North Carolina
Custom lighting, stained glass, sculptural stone, and furniture were developed as signature elements for the Napa Bistro brand. Each piece gives the restaurant a distinct identity while creating a visual language that can carry naturally into future locations.
Overview
We developed a collection of custom lighting, furniture, and architectural details that became signatures of the Napa Bistro brand. Inspired by the French paradox, the design draws from the familiarity of the classic French bistro while introducing the warmth and relaxed character of Napa Valley. Together, these elements create a recognizable design language that connects each location.
Many of the pieces were developed with American and Canadian fabricators, including several based in North Carolina. The chandelier was the first signature element we designed. Inspired by the classic French bistro fixture, we simplified the metalwork into thin rings and soft curves in aged brass. The white glass globes were slightly flattened, giving the fixture a more casual character while casting light more generously across the tables.
Stained glass rondels introduce a warm 1970s inspired palette, while a custom trestle table at the exhibition kitchen creates a place for guests to interact directly with the chef. In the dining room, the decanter station serves as both a functional wine piece and a sculptural focal point. Clad in richly veined Breccia Vino marble, it establishes a signature material that carries through the brand.
These fabrication partnerships also helped streamline development and bring custom pieces into future locations more efficiently.
